From Sister de Foucault

Nunzia Hi, hi friends of GMA,
finally I read all your Mails. So someone else is coming over, Prof. Marco Guadagno and his wife will be welcome, I’ll show them our schools and projects. Good to know in advance! My work is going on, after a month I feel now at home! Tomorrow I'll meet with the sports teachers to organize the football and sports tournament: but it'll be done only for Girls, because there are a lot of activities for boys. I did not forget about the jeans sent the donor of Casalnuovo for the children in Casa Famiglia, but they'll only get them for Easter (8/04), so I can take and sent then the photos only when we handle them over to them. At the moment there are 130 children absent as they returned to their villages and we don’t now if they’ll come back, for some sponsored children I’ve already started to look for them at their houses, in schools and somewhere else asking their teachers or neighbours, often families move overnight without leaving any info. I can go through the list and finish to meet ALL the sponsored children before leaving next June. Don't worry Nunzia, Maria and..... Tonight I'm going to join the others to see the soccer match between Liverpool and Chelsea. They are crazy about British football teams, and..... about Ballack from Germany!(Don’t forget I come from GERMANY!). So far everything is brillant over here. Every evening Mimi(the teacher of Mejaha) comes over to attend to my English lessons and even Gigi is turning into a native speaker :-). In the CD I’ve sent, you'll also find a list with changes I made in GMA main list, because some children left, others changed classes or even..... the spelling of their names ,etc. You will see it. From this week on I'll go once a week to sr Jaquie and sr Cristina to help them in curing and feeding the poor women and their children at their emergency centre. One day a week I'll go to Mejaha and another day to Tikur Wuha to teach them using the pocket ABCs and other educational materials I prepared for the children over there. One morning and one afternoon I’m at Women promotion Centre to teach and check their work and to let them present their use of the money received within the microcredit project. On Saturdays I'll go to the blind school because I created a game for them and we have to try it out. I have to talk to Takele too, to organize methodogical workshop for all the teachers who need it. Other teachers and boys for Casa Famiglia want to be taught computers as well and for me there is no problem. Together with Mimi and Tariku I will start the organization for the office to look after GMA matters. So far I have always been busy with the photos and Easter drawings and now I need to calm down a bit. last weeks I could rarely take a rest and sometime I have been working for 12 hours, because I wanted to finish all before Gigi’d leave. Now I’ll change the way I'm doing and I'll enjoy the Ethiopian way of living. I'm still trying to prepare a label for the items produced by the Women Prom. Centre, and then I’ll start using the fantastic educational materials on CDs Frank gave to us.... THANKS FRANK FROM ALL OF US IN SHASHAMANE AND MEKI. Nunzia, I am really enjoying myself over here. It is wonderful to work with the children, my degree in Sociology and Psycology didn’t teach me so many aspects which these people tell me, with love everyday. Thanks for giving me the chance to spend some time over here! So that's all for now. Hope to hear from you soon. Best wishes and greeting to everybody!

RITORNO DI GIGI

Da Gigi riceviamo informazioni sulla nuova scuola di Mejaha e bellissime foto scattate durante i suoi 50 giorni di volontariato available for the Mission, where he "made" the boys in maintenance and construction. In fact, proudly tells us that for the new school was set up a secure electrical and plumbing, all made with local materials and labor. The recinsione was completed with the work of our children.

Work in progress ...

ABBA TEMESGEN NAPLES

Temesgen, our special guest invited by Berardi at the wedding of Mariaelena and Francis, is maintained by us missionary priest in Ethiopia and is the local representative of Naples with GMA Father Silvio. From him we have the latest news and Shashamane Meki:

"I am happy to be here in Italy because I finally got the chance to meet all the people that support the daily efforts of the GMA and its volunteers to improve the lives of Shashemane. Many the hopes that my people are trying to entrust to those who part, to Mejaha work for the new school were stopped at the moment waiting for more funds from Italy, built a small bridge has withstood the flood, but for what we are trying to conivolgere larger than the local population to labor and materials, because we understand that it will be difficult to add others to the project € 12,000.00 but believe that bridge must be done and also aacqua and electricity will change substantial in the village. In the school building there is hope because some children looking at me with sadness .. I wanted to take them all away with me .. But not to end up drowned in the Mediterranean but why not come here as tourists, professionals ready to rtornare then to Ethiopia in order to enrich your knowledge and your esèerienze. The food crisis caused by soaring prices of basic necessities' on world markets, coupled with high oil prices and factors' endemic 'violence due to poverty as the' ignorance and the most prolonged periods of drought ', threatened to cause a new humanitarian emergency in the Horn of Africa, where nearly 15 million people are in need of immediate supplies cibo.Andrò of Milan and then directed, via Nunzia Verona, where we already have helped other organizations just to continue the discussion AID FOR THE EMERGENCY. The Catholic Church like other NGOs have become "Red Cross" food, and this saddens me especially when we close the doors of our missions to the long lines that form of desperate for help. You do what you can, organizations Austrian-Italian-English-Swiss give us a big hand but apparently not enough mai.L 'Ethiopia as Africa needs roads and infrastructure to be ready for the emerging climate-related and pandemics such as AIDS. If we had health care, clean water, education could be within a generation change with our efforts our future. When they get medicines and food becomes a problem of transportation costs and bring in more distant villages. In the blog I put images of the GMA, as this

and news on the diocese of Meki where, despite my young age and little experience, I was tasked to accompany Father Monti almost 80 year old administrator and manager relations with the outside. Even his name, and the Bishop of Father Silvio thank you all for the help that you give us and ask the Lord to bless your families, your work and social commitment. "

Abba Temesgen

Abba
Temesgen asked his bishop for permission to stay until the end of May to respond to the invitation of our friends in Milan, Verona and Rome, plus the various parishes, schools and groups who support us in Naples. It 'nice to see that his Italian has improved a lot and who can testify about our work there on Ethiopian culture, on African issues, without our intermediation, as we did during his first visit in 2006. If you want to meet him, meet May 22 in the morning at the Villa Bruno, S. Day, at the close of business on EAS (Development Education). You may also invite them to "home" bridging the few days that remained without appointments.
