I just returned from the ultra-modern cinema, where I could enjoy on first viewing the documentary "A mountain of lies," and I felt a great desire to take up the pen. And 'it's been a year since I wrote that last Heavy letter: "E 'at the height scum." Unfortunately, our situation has worsened bell in total silence of the citizens, media and the Church. A heavy this year. The economic-financial potentates (real octopus clings everything!) Have triumphed with the military crushing any resistance active and responsible citizenship in Campania. The State is to serve the business. And the media in the hands of those who control the finances. And the people addicted to believe what they are told on TV. It 'possible that the Italian people are so hypnotized? Karl Popper was right when he said that, with this TV, there can be no democracy. This is why I did well to find in the documentary "A mountain of lies" the true story of the tragic history of waste in Campania. Finally a word of truth in the lies that rule. He did well to come back to me this tragic story I have lived and live on my skin: the vision of that documentary was a catharsis for me.
Since the 90s, since Italy could no longer bury their toxic waste to Somalia, Campania it has become the national sversatoio. The industrial North-Central has a deal with the Camorra because did the dirty work of those buried toxic waste in the Triangle of Death (Acerra - Nola-Marigliano), in the Land of the fires (Giugliano, quality ...) and in the countryside of Caserta. We earn it, first by building incinerators (this shows cost a lot of money), second, they get by selling electricity by burning waste and, third, benefiting from the Cip6 (the bill that every citizen pays the state for renewable energy) . Unfortunately the money for the Cip6 not go to renewables, but the energy produced from incineration (the only case in Europe!). There are at least € 3 billion per year. That's why the powers that be want to incinerate!. And 'This is the policy's business that has deeply marked the governments that have occurred since 1994, the center-right as the center-left. It 'was this policy that led to disaster in Campania. The Special Commissioners have never wanted to separate their waste, and have used more than € 2 billion to produce 7-8 million tonnes of ecoballe (Echo have nothing) stored outside the town of Giugliano: 14 km in length, 4 wide, just in the beautiful countryside of the Bourbons (known as "King's Tavern"). In these 15 years, the commissioners of the waste have not been able to operate only one site composting, which would have eliminated 40% of waste (which becomes the wet compost). With door to door collection could provide jobs for many unemployed young people from Campania! Instead, they preferred enrich four industrial super-rich already. That evening at the 'ultra-modern', enjoying "A mountain of lies", I relived those years of struggle emotionally and I realized how many bales have told us! Mountains! We were crushed, but no one can take the will to cry, not only for what happened, but also for what is now happening. These ashes should, by law, be buried in special pits of rock salt in Germany. Cry to heaven on May 12 in Marcianise (between Caserta and Naples), where the Camorra has burned 700,000 tons of tires, which have continued to burn for a week (almost useless to the intervention of fire brigade), producing a toxic cloud that enveloped the entire region for weeks (the law against environmental crimes is still in Parliament for over 10 years). Outcry against the disaster of the landfill Ferrandell (Caserta), where they were spilled more than 1 million tons of waste in that state. In the landfill there is a composting site, built years ago and never used, full of bales of waste in that state. Outcry against the decision to build a new incinerator in East Naples, in the area of \u200b\u200bBridges, in the heart of the city, which will burn 400 thousand tons of waste per year. Hope comes from the brothers and sisters of the road heavily committed on the water, waste, environment. They were born of the wonderful friendships that sustain us in this difficult resistance in Campania. Among the many, many, let me remind Raffaele Del Giudice, president of Legambiente Campania, moved by a sacred passion for his land, the fight against the excessive power of the eco-mafia. A hope that springs from genuine human relations within the committees, groups, networks where people become 'gift' to each other: the extraordinary wealth of this nation. I've experienced, especially in small Christian communities (seven) who, with Father Dominic (his arrival for Health has been a great gift for me!), We are growing here at WHO. It 'amazing to see the richness of human relationships, the capacity to read reality in the light of the gospel (it is the popular reading of the Bible) and commitment to the poor (bring a meal every Wednesday evening warm when sleeping on the street!). It 'really nice to see that it is the poor who help the poor! How much hope I get from them! And how much hope I had the faces of disadvantaged children in the District of Health, during the field work (13-19 July), we have organized. I am grateful that the Pope in his recent social encyclical has recalled the close relationship that exists between faith and practical life in the economic field, as politically and culturally. That's why I am committed as a missionary and a priest, these key issues for life. And I have a deep conviction that we are in the hands of a Dad, why will not the last word of a lie, but the Truth. One example is the tragic story of asbestos. It took decades of hard work to achieve the great social process of Turin, now in progress, against the asbestos industry. And so we had thousands and thousands of lives! On the monument to victims of asbestos in Monfalcone is written:

that does not happen just to waste! God is tired of people killed in the name of profit: He wants his children to live the fullness of their lives, now and forever. Enough many deaths in the name of profit. To win your life!
